Finished XXI. edition of the Rovinj Summer Festival 24.09.2016.

The final concert in the church of St. Euphemia performed by the musicians of the wind ensemble from Bergamo “Gruppo Fiati Musica Aperta”, with soloist Katja Markotić and under the direction of conductor Pieralbert Cattane, was a successful and ceremonial end to the Rovinj Festival. The expertly designed concert program began with Mozart’s symphony in E-flat major K. 543, followed by three compositions from “Lieder von Gellert” op.48 by L. van Beethoven, after which three symphonic songs by R. Strauss followed quite nicely: Das Rosenband”, “Morgen” and “Zueignung” in a stylistically thought-out and deeply felt performance by mezzo-soprano Katja Markotić, known and excellent to the interpreter of Lied. In the second part of the concert, A. Dvorak’s Serenade, op. 22, and after it the sumptuous sounds of “Slavic Dances” op. 46. As the last point of their playful program was Mozart’s aria “Parto, parto ma tu ben mio” from the opera “La clemenza di Tito”, in a sovereign and impressive performance by the soloist Markotić with the excellent support of the excellent musicians of the wind ensemble. To the long-lasting applause of the audience, Mozart’s soulful and youthful song “Oiseaux, si tous les ans” was performed as an addition, rounding off a series of 11 concerts held as part of this summer’s festival season.
